Collagen Peptide/Poly(ethylene oxide) Nanofiber Facial Mask with Enhanced Moisturizing and Antioxidant Performance

Facial masks have become an essential part of daily skincare, and the degradation of active ingredients in traditional moisture facial masks has increasingly raised concerns among consumers about their effectiveness. In this study, collagen peptide (CP) was selected as the active ingredient, poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) as the fiber-forming polymer, and polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA) as the cross-linking agent. Through the combination of electrospinning and in situ photo-cross-linking techniques, a nanofiber day-state facial mask with both moisturizing and antioxidant functions was successfully prepared. The morphologies, mechanical properties, thermal properties, and water resistance of the nanofiber membranes before and after cross-linking were studied. Moreover, the effects of different dosages of PEGDA on the moisturizing and antioxidant properties were discussed. The biocompatibility of the prepared facial masks was evaluated through cytotoxicity experiments. This study presents a promising strategy for developing skincare products that offer sustained moisturizing and antioxidant effects.
