US AND ISRAELI STRIKES ON IRAN: CONSEQUENCES FOR EUROPE
The military crisis in the Middle East that flared up in mid-June 2025 due to the Israeli and US strikes on nuclear facilities in Iran not only did not go beyond the region, but, despite its intensity, was suspended and, in fact, brought to nothing in a relatively short period of time – 12 days. One of the important reasons for the short duration and limited scale of such powerful military actions was the non-interference in it by both regional and global powers, although all of them – without exception – exerted a certain influence on what was happening in the Middle East with their position. In this article, the author examines the role of the European Union and the European Three (E3 – France, Germany and Great Britain) during the crisis and after it. Despite all the differences in the nuances, the E3 and the EU as a whole declared themselves on the side of the US and Israel on the main issue - Iran should not gain access to nuclear weapons. According to the author, the crisis has ended a seven-year period of divergence between the EU and the US in their approach to assessing/reassessing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed in 2015. Thus, the author concludes, Iran finds itself facing a largely consolidated position of transatlanticists
