Correlation of Anion Gap with Exacerbation Severity and Discharge Outcomes in COPD Patients: A Tertiary Care Study
Recent research has shown that evaluating AG is a good, practical, and affordable way of recognizing high-risk COPD patients very early. 10n addition to its prognostic value, AG has also proved to be a marker for deciding treatment. For instance, AG levels have been linked in research to patients in crisis who have to be kept on mechanical ventilation (MV) or other intensive therapies. 11Furthermore, there is evidence of a relationship between high AG and abnormalities of electrolytes, such as hyponatremia and hypokalemia, rendering the patient care even more complicated. 12
