Impressing as a mechanism of socialization and enculturation
The article is devoted to the analysis of the functioning of the little-studied biosociocultural phenomenon “impressing”. The aim of the study is to present impressing as a mechanism for the assimilation of socio-cultural values and norms and as a mechanism for the formation of socio-cultural subjectivity in the process of socialization and inculturation. Since socialization and inculturation are processes that can take place in parallel, while being characterized by substantive and structural specifics, the place and role of impression in these processes will be different at different stages. The scientific novelty of this study lies in the emphasis placed on the special role of impression in the transition of personality from the stage of social adaptation to the stage of social creativity. At the same time, it is emphasized that this mechanism solves not so much the tasks of socialization as the tasks of inculturation. As a result of the study, it was established that the main purpose of impressing is to bring a person to the stage of their socio-cultural development, at which this person makes a choice – to remain a carrier and translator of existing cultural values or to become a creator of new ones, even if this involves opposition to society and the dominant norms in it.
