Planar High-Q Evanescent Whispering Gallery Mode Perovskite Lasers
Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) are excellent gain media for thin-film laser diodes thanks to their high intrinsic gain and tunable spectral emission properties [1]. Furthermore, perovskite light emitting diodes (PeLEDs) with external quantum efficiencies exceeding 20% have been realized at different wavelengths in the visible to near-infrared range, paving the way for their integration as light sources in photonic integrated circuit [2]. A transition towards a perovskite laser diode requires equipping a PeLED with an optical resonator. However, the ionic nature and chemical reactivity of MHPs hampers the direct application of advanced semiconductor fabrication processes, which complicates the integration of high-Q factor resonators [3].
