Key pre-distribution security scheme for IIOT by using Hermitian matrix

In this paper, the authors presented one of the indispensable pre-distribution key schemes using Hermitian matrices for Industrial IoT. With the new technique, it is allowed to exploit singular features of Hermitian matrices over finite fields in order to establish shared secrets with devices running efficiently under resource shortage. First, it was subjected to performance analysis regarding some of the most important characteristics such as energy consumption, computation time, memory usage, communication overhead, shared secret entropy, scalability within the refresh requirements of key generation, and failure tolerance to a device. The simulation results provided evidence that the proposed scheme achieves high entropy of a shared secret, thus high security owing to its resistance against any kind of predictability-based attack besides several other types of attacks. In addition, this scheme guarantees low computation overhead and memory, so that good efficiency during IIoT applications can be achieved. Additionally, the results have also demonstrated strong scalability with reliability during the failure of devices, thereby ensuring high system reliability throughout dynamic industrial settings. This research work points out the potential of matrix-based cryptography approaches, which are given to surmounting challenges in secure IIoT and scalable key management.
