Mathematical Computing of Reliability Parameters of a Parallel System Under the Cold Standby Unit
The reliable units of a system lead to good production and profit for the industry. In this article, reliability measures, including availability and MTSF, are examined for a parallel unit system model. Two of the three identical units that make up the system are initially operational, while the third is on cold standby. Even if one unit fails, the system keeps working until all fail. Every unit is in one of two states: operational or total failure. When the operational unit malfunctions, the cold standby unit kicks in right away. In this model, the repair time is spread arbitrarily, whereas the malfunctioning time is distributed exponentially. To avoid operational and reputational losses, numerous companies, industries, and facilities employ these methods. The methodologies, SMP and RPGT, have been used to define MTSF and availability. The study aims to examine the different effects of failure and repair times on reliability parameters to have a good, approachable value to gain profit and run the system for a long time. The outcomes obtained concluded that with the presence of a cold standby unit, the overall MTSF and availability increased with increased repair time, as graphically shown.
