Streamlined Near Real-Time Image Processing with Apache Kafka
The increasing demand for real-time analysis of visual data has strained traditional centralized architectures. This paper introduces a distributed framework leveraging Apache Kafka to process images in a near-real-time manner. Our approach separates image ingestion, processing, and output into distinct stages, enabling parallel execution across a cluster of nodes. Kafka acts as a robust communication backbone, ensuring scalability, fault tolerance, and high throughput. Experimental results demonstrate substantial performance gains compared to centralized methods. We delve into factors influencing performance, such as topic partitioning, consumer group configuration, and processing intensity. Our proposed framework offers a viable solution for tackling large-scale, time-sensitive image processing tasks, paving the way for innovative applications in various domains.
