Fuzzy Logic - based Hierarchical Safety Case for SMR digital infrastructure

This paper explores the use of fuzzy logic to justify safety and reliability requirements for SMR digital infrastructure (DI), which includes information, telecommunications, and control systems ensuring SMR safety. SMRs introduce new challenges for digital equipment manufacturers, operators, and regulators, leading to new regulatory requirements for I&C systems. A hierarchical safety case is proposed, where the main claim about SMR DI reliability is supported by subclaims related to specific DI components. Fuzzy logic is used to link these claims with their supporting evidence, demonstrating its application in justifying SMR DI reliability.
