Problem of Weapon Selection Using Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making

In one respect, the choice of weapons in military operations is a strategic matter that greatly influences the effectiveness of defense systems. On other respect, selecting the best weapon from various options is a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) challenge. In this work we develop a weapons evaluation model that uses the technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), based on q-rung picture linguistic fuzzy (q-RPLF) information, for helping defense industry actors in the selection of optimal weapons in a specific case. A new fuzzy TOPSIS method is utilized to get a ranking of possible weapon selection alternatives. For illustration of the effectiveness and feasibility of the offered fuzzy MCDM model a demonstrative numerical example is presented.
