Abstract

Craftsmen play a vital cultural force, contributing to socioeconomic development. However, their identities face challenges in the rapidly evolving technological era. This study examines the dynamics of identification with work among craftsmen – the tri-foci of work identity. The purpose of the study is to identify the relationship between factors of organizational identification and additionally proposes a conceptual AI driven Chatbot framework for enhancing craftsmen's identity. The data collected from 386 craftsmen, using a survey design, reveals that the workgroup identification significantly predicts organizational attachment, highlighting bonds. Organizational socialization emerges as a key driver of career and workgroup identification, which this attachment to their craft reflects the craftsmen's alignment with sustaining the culture. The study proposes a conceptual chatbot framework, KalaSrijan, as technological intervention to support the craftsmen. The AI enabled solution training, marketing assistance and considers key challenges faced by artisans. The chatbot. The integration of traditional identity with modern technological solutions, key findings indicate that workgroup identification significantly predicts organizational identification, which highlights the need for technological interventions for enhancing craftsmen's well-being. The future research should consider the practical implications of the AI driven chatbot for long-term sustainability of the craftsmen.
