Collaborative Planning of Large-Scale Renewable Energy Power Base Through MMC-HVDC System
Large-scale renewable energy bases with MMC-HVDC is a crucial solution for the integration and utilization of renewable energy in China. The rational allocation of supporting power sources and the optimization of MMC-HVDC curves are essential foundations for guaranteeing the export capacity and economic efficiency of renewable energy bases. This paper proposes a collaborative planning method for large-scale renewable energy bases transmitted via MMC-HVDC system, based on the chronological production simulation. Firstly, the operational characteristics of renewable energy bases, MMC-HVDC link, and receiving-end power grids are analyzed, and corresponding mathematical models are developed for each component. Subsequently, a collaborative planning model is constructed with the objective of minimizing the total social cost, incorporating constraints such as unit operation sequencing and power balance. By solving the model, an optimized transmission curve that fully utilizes the flexible regulation capability of MMC-HVDC, along with the configuration scheme of supporting power sources, is obtained. A case study involving a large-scale renewable energy base comprising wind power, photovoltaic power, thermal power, and energy storage was conducted to validate the proposed method. The results demonstrate that the method satisfies all export requirements of the renewable energy base, ensures power supply security for the receiving-end grid, and reduces carbon emissions, which confirms the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach.
