Enhancing ONDC with AI: Transforming Disaggregated Digital Commerce through Intelligent Automation

ONDC is the most revolutionary idea toward decentralized electronic commerce, inspired by inclusiveness, interoperability, and openness. However, current digital commerce platforms show immense problems related to reliability, engagement of stakeholders, and inefficiencies in operations. This paper intends to critically do an in-depth analysis of the ONDC initiative and the current general digital commerce ecosystem for some major bottlenecks to check the ways necessary for making improvements in the platforms. The use of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain technology can be expected to increase the degree of reliability, security, and efficiency. Agentic AI and Conversational AI can play a major role in automating stakeholder interaction, customer query resolution, and engagement. Predictive analytics will, meanwhile, enable better decision-making and operational efficiency. Blockchain-based solutions can further enhance trust and transparency in securing transaction records and preventing fraudulent activities. The presented research has indicated lacunae in the prevailing practices of digital commerce and provided a framework for Intelligent AI-ONDC. We will pave the way for actually resilient and scalable decentralized commerce ecosystems by embedding automation, real-time decision-making, and deep AI techniques in this.
