A Comprehensive Analysis on High Availability Design Patterns in AWS for Optimizing Uptime
As technology progresses, organizations depending on Amazon Web Services (AWS) actively work to enhance the system availability and ensure continuous service delivery. As technology advances, multiple High Availability Design Patterns within AWS have emerged, each addressing unique aspects of redundancy and system resilience. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of High Availability Design Patterns in Amazon Web Services (AWS) to aid in selecting the most effective approach for system resilience. The intention is to provide practitioners with valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of each pattern, facilitating informed decisionmaking in the pursuit of optimal system uptime. In this context, the paper delves into patterns such as the Multi-Server Pattern for server redundancy, the Multi-Datacenter Pattern for data center-level redundancy, the Floating IP Pattern enabling dynamic IP address reassignment, and the Deep Health Check Pattern for proactive system health monitoring. The novelty of this evaluation lies in its consideration of several crucial elements. This evaluation addresses cost implications, complexity of implementation, response time, and scalability for each pattern, providing a nuanced understanding of their applicability in various scenarios unlike the previous studies that provide generic recommendations. This study also focuses on bridging the gap between the theory and the practical implementation. This comprehensive examination addresses the critical question of why a particular pattern might be more suitable for specific organizational needs over others.
