IoT-Based Home Security System Using Telegram

In this digital era, crimes related to home invasions cause fear for a huge percentage of people throughout the globe. They cause a sense of vulnerability for their houses in place of peace and safety. Many research and initiatives have been made to prevent these kinds of crimes. Also, many products and systems are available in the market that have been proved efficient in preventing them. The concern for the prevention related to home invasions remains a big concern around the world. This research is a step further in the direction of preventing these crimes. Unlike traditional closed-circuit television camera systems that require extensive memory resources for continuous, round-the-clock recording, the proposed system offers residents a robust and efficient surveillance mechanism. The innovative home security system provides safety to the one's home through live streaming and an intelligent alarm system. The implemented security system aims to provide an efficient approach to data storage and memory management as it integrates live video streaming only upon motion detection with the popular Telegram application. The system comprises a PIR sensor, Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, Pi camera, and buzzer as components. The collected and processed data will be sent to the Telegram mobile application, which in turn can be utilized to trigger an alarm on demand of the user or in case of home invasion. Experimental results in a simulated environment indicate 100% success in motion detection with a slight delay in live streaming, and 80% of the time triggers the alarm notification. Cutting-edge security technology has been made more accessible, affordable, and effective for everyday users by this approach, potentially transforming how people protect their homes and loved ones.
