A Blockchain-based Platform to Provide Security and Transparency in Organ Donation in KSA

Health data is considered the most sensitive because of its connection to people's lives. Many modern healthcare systems rely on blockchain for supply chains, data security, and preventing tampering. Organ donation is an emerging and highly sensitive issue in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia due to its connection to legal, health, cultural, societal, and financial matters. In the absence of complete oversight and control, humanitarian services could become a threat to the security and safety of society through organ trafficking or sale. This research presents a robust system for managing organ donation using a private blockchain between government agencies. This platform will enhance community awareness and, consequently, public health. It will also enhance transparency, reliability, and fairness in connecting donors and those in need through smart digital contracts. A simulation of the blockchain implementation mechanism was conducted to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system.
