Frequency Diversified Modified Hexagonal Microstrip Patch Antenna for Microwave Applications
A compact novel hexagonal-shaped microstrip antenna is designed in this research work. The proposed antenna having dimensions <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$22 \times 17 \times 1.6 \text{mm}^{3}$</tex> consists of a hexagonal shaped patch on a dielectric substrate. The PIN diode used in this research work is BAP 65-02 that is embedded on the substrate to result in the reconfigurability for the different applications. The designed antenna operates in quad-band having resonances (for the various configurations) such as <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$5.6 \text{GHz}, 5.9 \text{GHz}, 7.1 \text{GHz}$</tex> and 9.3 GHz. The proposed antenna is novel as it applicable for four different microwave and wireless applications. All the electromagnetic parameters are simulated on HFSS-15 software to ensure the proper fabrication of the prototype. The proposed antenna can be used for the various microwave applications like satellite imaging system, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, WLAN and LTE etc.
