Robust Advanced Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) System from Real-Time Video Footage

Automated vehicle monitoring and surveillance of traffic has amplified interest in Advanced Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems. This manuscript details the design, and implementation of an ANPR system that processes real-time video footage to detect, extract, and interpret license. The proposed system incorporates several advanced techniques for features like real-time video capture, frame pre-processing, region detection, character recognition and plate validation. The focus here is on achieving high accuracy and robust performance under varied conditions. The system achieves an impressive accuracy of 96.5% over the tested dataset.
