Rapid risk assessments: effective performance in critical infrastructure protection

Effective decision-making and rapid risk assessment are crucial factors in ad hoc working groups. The interactions within the group play a significant role in achieving these goals. The roles, tasks, and composition of the group, along with the incorporation of additional information, have a direct impact on the decision-making process and the quality of the final risk assessment. The results revealed that the type of groups, role distribution, and leadership style differ, and that leadership style influences the speed of risk assessments. Moreover, these findings offer new stochastic and objective methods for Military, government, and Critical infrastructure companies’ managers, providing insights into how role distribution dynamics within spontaneous groups affect the overall effectiveness of risk assessment, particularly in the context of critical infrastructure protection. This study considered the openness, closure, or indeterminacy of role distribution, suggesting that the role distribution within a team influences its overall effectiveness in assessing cyber risks. This approach aims to be a pioneering effort in the field of R-RAG game design.
