Cluster Models of Generating Capacities to Identify Optimal Scenarios for Ukrainian Power Plants Restoration

Cluster models of technologically different generating capacities expansion are proposed. The models used to minimize the total capital and operational costs of restoring Ukrainian power plants damaged as a result of Russian missile and drone attacks. The optimization problem is formulated as a mixed integer linear programming problem. The cluster models provide long-term forecasting of load modes of various types of power units and energy storage systems for multiple representative seasonal weekly periods with hourly detail. The use of proposed models allows to determine quantitative structure of generating capacities, as well as corresponding capital and operation costs under the given technological scenario for damaged power plants. The results of computational experiments using the proposed models for four different scenarios of restoration of generation capacities of Trypilska thermal power plant are presented. The analysis of the obtained modeling results demonstrates the adequacy of the cluster models and the validity of the methodology for determining the best scenario for the power plant restoration.
