An Application of an Image Enhancement Method in Low Bitrate Channels
Due to limitations in channel resources and legacy issues such as outdated equipment, there exists a widespread prevalence of low-bitrate digital images in various production and operational activities, aimed at achieving the optimal balance of technical and economic benefits. Low-bitrate digital images are commonly afflicted by issues such as compression noise, low resolution, video tearing, and motion blur. This paper proposes an image enhancement method based on a “cascaded two-stage multi-scale video enhancement network,” which features low processing latency and simple deployment. The technique primarily focuses on reducing block noise in low-bitrate videos, resulting in an improvement of the peak signal-to-noise ratio by nearly 3 dB, demonstrating significant enhancement in image quality.
