Investigation of Train Wagon Loaded and Unloaded Condition Using Fiber Optic Sensing System

This study details the use of computer tools for virtual prototyping to create a virtual freight wagon vehicle. The Indian Railways' “BOXN25” freight wagon is classified as an open type wagon. The freight wagon vehicle is made up of two bogies and a car body structure. The freight wagon is modelled in SolidWorks, and the geometry is exported to ANSYS, a finite element program. A system that has multiple degrees of freedom has been examined and contrasted with a system that has an unlimited number of degrees of freedom. BFNS freight bogie shows the highest wavelength shift of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{1 2. 4 1} \boldsymbol{\mu} \mathbf{m}$</tex> and minimum is <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$9.3 \mu ~\mathrm{m}$</tex> for BOXN. Abstract

Sensitivity of fiber is <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$1.36 \text{pm} / \mu \varepsilon$</tex> with change in effective refractive index of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{3. 6 6}$</tex>. The current problem contains high degrees of freedom. The virtual freight wagon's structural dynamic reaction is identified.
