Microcontroller System for a Flexible Bionic Limb Operation
The paper is dedicated to flexible hand prosthetics and their advantages over more traditional concepts. The main concerns of most modern bionic limbs are considered; solutions for improving the characteristics as well as cost of a prosthetic are proposed. Additionally, the paper describes a prototype, built by the authors to incorporate advantageous features of the flexible design and paired muscle activity sensors as opposed to singular ones. The functionality of the developed device is described, including the calibration before the normal operation. Technologies, used to build the prototype, are also mentioned. Finally, potential applications for the proof-of-concept are considered.
