Comparative Study on PRPD Spectra of Transformer Monitoring Devices and On-Site Inspection Devices

With the rapid development of novel power systems, the performance and accuracy of transformer monitoring devices are crucial to the safe operation of power grids. However, the performance, quality, and lifespan of these monitoring devices vary considerably, and there lacks an effective method for postinstallation performance verification, posing a threat to the safe operation of transformers. This paper delves into the application of comparing PRPD (Phase Resolved Partial Discharge) pattern information between transformer monitoring devices and field test devices. By establishing an experimental platform, local discharge signals under different defect conditions are collected, and PRPD patterns are utilized for feature extraction to form a feature fingerprint database. By comparing the PRPD patterns of the monitoring devices with those of the field test devices, the performance of the monitoring devices is assessed. The research results indicate that the monitoring devices exhibit high consistency with the field test devices in capturing discharge activities, identifying discharge types, reflecting phase relationships, and measuring discharge signal intensities, thereby validating the practical application performance of the monitoring devices.
