The effectiveness of a proposed strategy based on educational activities in developing design thinking skills among fifth-grade science students in Islamic Education

This study aims to examine the impact of a proposed instructional strategy based on educational activities in developing design thinking skills among fifth-grade science students in Islamic Education. The study utilized a test to measure design thinking skills, comprising five key dimensions: empathy, problem definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing. The test consisted of 32 items, the validity and reliability of which were verified. The study sample included 65 fifth-grade science students, divided into two groups: an experimental group (32 students) who were taught using the proposed strategy, and a control group (33 students) who continued with traditional instruction. After administering a pre-test to both groups, the experiment was conducted. The experimental group received instruction following the proposed strategy, while the control group maintained the conventional approach. Upon completion of the experiment, a post-test was administered to both groups. The results revealed statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the two groups, favoring the experimental group. This confirms the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in enhancing students' design thinking skill.
