Resilient H∞ Proportional Retarded Control for Nonlinear Interval Type‐2 Fuzzy Systems Subject to Saturation

ABSTRACT The main focus of this article is to study the stabilization problem of interval type‐2 (IT‐2) fuzzy systems through a proportional retarded control law. Specifically, an IT‐2 fuzzy system is formulated with nonlinearity, exogenous disturbance, randomly occurring uncertainties, gain fluctuation, and saturation effect. For the first time, a retarded controller integrated with standard IT‐2 fuzzy proportional feedback is designed for a nonlinear IT‐2 fuzzy system to establish asymptotic stability of the plant. By creating a pertinent Lyapunov‐Krasovskii functional, an ample set of criteria guaranteeing the global asymptotic stability of the IT‐2 fuzzy system is developed in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Then, the desired proportional gain and retarded gain matrices are obtained by solving those LMI constraints through the MATLAB LMI toolbox. Finally, through two practical systems—such as mass‐spring damper systems and tunnel diode circuits—the substantiation of the developed method scheme and the efficiency of the proposed controller are verified.
