The topological charge of the superposition of optical vortices in a turbulent medium

This study investigates structured light beams composed of optical vortices arranged in a geometric progression. Numerical simulations were conducted to model the propagation of these optical fields through turbulent media using the Fresnel integral. The topological charges of the initial and propagated fields were analyzed and compared. Consistent with expectations, the results demonstrate that superpositions containing fewer constituent beams exhibit greater resistance to distortion in highly turbulent media. However, for superpositions configured as a geometric progression with a variable parameter, the stability of beam propagation depends not only on the turbulence strength of the medium but also on the specific parameters defining the geometric progression itself.
