Halide Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Conventional Imaging Applications and New Opportunities

Abstract Organic–inorganic hybrid halide perovskites (OIHPs) semiconductors with outstanding optoelectronic properties have attracted significant attention as next‐generation integrated radiation detectors for medical radiodiagnosis and healthcare monitoring, e.g., flat‐panel X‐ray imagers (FPXIs). A deep understanding of the “structure‐property” relationship is critical for advancing high‐performance imager sensors and unlocking new application scenarios. This review summarizes recent progress in halide perovskite X/γ‐ray detectors, focusing on advances in material synthesis, preparation methods, imager integration, and practical applications. The fundamental principles of ionizing X/γ‐ray detection are first presented, and the criteria for FPXIs application‐specific detectors are outlined. Then, the status of perovskite X/γ‐ray detectors is reviewed according to “structure‐property” relationships, emphasizing how composition and crystallinity influence the detection performances of OIHPs detectors. The fabrication and characterization of the perovskite‐based FPXIs, as one of the most important potential applications, are subsequently discussed in detail. Finally, the frontier applications driven by the unique property of perovskites, e.g., flexible X‐ray imagers and wearable dosimeters, are also concluded.
