The Role of Anti-inflammatory Therapies in Acute Coronary Syndromes: CANTOS and Beyond
Abstract This commentary evaluates anti-inflammatory medications in acute coronary syndrome (ACS), with a focus on the CANTOS trial and emerging treatments. A literature search up to 2024 in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane was conducted using keywords such as “cardiovascular inflammation” and “CANTOS trial.” It included randomized controlled trials, meta-analyses, and observational studies on the safety and effectiveness of anti-inflammatory drugs in ACS, excluding non-English, nonhuman, and nonpeer-reviewed papers. Key results from CANTOS and other trials were highlighted, along with issues and future research areas.
