Accelerator‐Loaded Pyrolysis Carbon Black via Twin‐Screw Technology for Enhanced Natural Rubber Composites

ABSTRACT To enhance the dispersion and interfacial bonding of pyrolysis‐derived carbon black (CBp) in natural rubber (NR), a novel method combining accelerator‐loaded CBp with twin‐screw‐assisted wet masterbatching was developed. The accelerator (DPG) and CBp were first co‐agglomerated via ball milling and then deagglomerated using the high shear forces of a twin‐screw extruder. The effects of accelerator dosage and twin‐screw shear flocculation parameters on the vulcanization behavior, filler dispersion, Payne effect, mechanical strength, and dynamic mechanical performance of CBp/NR composites were systematically studied. Compared to conventional wet mixing, the DPG‐loaded CBp combined with twin‐screw‐assisted masterbatching reduced Mooney viscosity and rolling resistance while significantly enhancing filler dispersion, vulcanization efficiency, and mechanical properties. Specifically, the 1DPG/CBp/NR composite exhibited a 28% increase in tensile strength and a 29% improvement in wear resistance, along with optimal filler dispersion and the lower Payne effect. Additionally, this composite maintained stable wet skid resistance while reducing rolling resistance.
