The Interplay Between Knowledge Management and Innovation in Tech Startups
This study examines the critical interaction of knowledge management (KM) practices and innovation results within the specific context of technology startup companies. The aim is to construct a very agile, conceptual framework explaining how KM effectiveness in such environments enables and enhances innovation subprocesses at all levels. The methodology follows a model building strategy based on literature review with components on the dynamics of the startup, including their innovation theories and applicable innovation literature. Performance metrics, in the form of hypothesis tests, were assessed to prove the interdependence of the factors in question. The results show that effective KM practices directed towards knowledge sharing, capture and application greatly enhance the speed of innovation, the innovativeness of the product, and the market capture of technology startups. As a practical contribution, this study will assist startup managers in understanding how knowledge can be transformed into actionable strategies to foster innovative growth for their ventures.
