Obtaining Filtration Flat Membranes From Recycled Polyvinyl Butyral
ABSTRACT Obtaining filtration flat membranes made of recycled PVB from damaged automotive laminated glass has been investigated. The resulting membranes present a rough superficial skin with large cavities and irregular internal flow channels. Filtration experiments have revealed a limited release of plasticizer molecules during the first instants and a specific behavior upon increasing pressure, with the occurrence of a flux jump before the flux can be modulated thereafter. The results indicate that the apparent permeability of membranes made of recycled PVB (PVBrec) is much higher than that of those made from pure PVB (PVBpur), so exhibiting the spacer effect played by the plasticizers for these membranes.
