ASSESSING PERVIOUS CONCRETE PROPERTIES THROUGH INGREDIENT VARIATION
Pervious concrete pavement offers an innovative and effective way to address growing environmental concerns.By allowing rainwater to percolate through its porous structure, it helps recharge groundwater, reducing storm water runoff and alleviating pressure on drainage systems. In regions like Bhopal, India, which experience low rainfall and high temperatures, pervious concrete pavement can play a significant role in improving the water table. This technology also enables more efficient land use by eliminating the need for separate storm water management systems, such as retention ponds and swales.Pervious concrete is a specially designed mixture that utilizes a controlled amount of water and cementitious materials to create a thick paste coating around aggregate particles.Characterized by a lack of sand, pervious concrete has a high void content, resulting in a highly permeable and interconnected void system that enables rapid drainage. This study examines the effectiveness of pervious concrete in pavement construction, comparing its properties, such as density, porosity, compressive strength, and permeability, to those of conventional concrete.
