The Impact of Behavioral, Constructive Cognitive, and Natural Reward Strategies on Self-Leadership and Their Effect on Prosocial Behavior
This study explored the structural relationships between three Self-regulatory strategies―behavior-focused, Constructive cognitive, and Natural reward strategies and their effects on prosocial behavior. Survey data were collected from 236 adults in Yangsan City, South Korea, and analyzed using structural equation modeling(SEM). The results showed that the Constructive cognitive strategy significantly influenced the Natural reward strategy, which in turn had a positive effect on prosocial behavior. While the behavior-focused strategy did not affect the Natural reward strategy, it directly and positively influenced prosocial behavior. The Natural reward strategy was also found to mediate the relationship between Constructive cognitive strategy and prosocial behavior. These finding suggest that internal self-regulation mechanisms, especially cognitive reframing and intrinsic motivation, play a key role in fostering socially responsible actions. The study provides practical insights for educational and community programs aimed at enhancing individual engagement and social cohesion.
