Free Choice Learning Online: Using a Template-Based Approach to Design Virtual Museum Exhibitions

Many organizations rely on templates to develop documentation and eLearning programs. But how can templates facilitate the design of informal learning through virtual museum exhibitions? This brief paper explores twelve online exhibitions from different history and technology museums, housed on the Digital Museums Canada website, and developed with the same template. It explores the reasons for requiring use of the template, its strengths and limitations, and transferrable lessons for more formal online learning developed with templates.
