Exploring the Future of AI-Powered Design with Working Professionals: A Novel Design Jam Approach

This paper presents a novel teaching approach designed for working design professionals interested in exploring the potential impacts of AI-powered tools on their work in the coming years. We report on a design jam event that brought together academic researchers and industry professionals to guide participants through a series of activities aimed at envisioning the future of AI in design. The event structure, including brainstorming, sketching, and prototyping exercises, is detailed. We gathered valuable insights from participant feedback about AI's role in design, the productivity of outcomes, and the engaging nature of the activities. The paper concludes with reflections on the effectiveness of this approach and suggestions for future iterations.
