“Super Express-Courier” Plan: A Delivery Approach for Terminal Logistics-Stations Under Lean Management
The labor-intensive nature of logistics industry creates a significant challenge for express enterprises in China, where the demand for parcel delivery often exceeds the available labor. This paper proposes the “Super Express-Courier Plan” as an optimization strategy to address this issue. The approach comprises four key components:1) Utilizing an address parsing model (BERT-Classification) to refine the solution space involving terminal stations. 2) Addressing two variants of Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) with constraints on vehicle types, capacities, station locations, and time restrictions. 3) Integrating supervised knowledge into the Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search (ALNS) algorithm to achieve an effective trade-off through distributed computing, and 4) Using mathematical analysis to assess labor and cost savings for lean management. Section 5 details practical insights and demonstrates through experiments that our approach is effective and more cost-efficient in practical compared to commercial software.
