Graphene-Based Nanomaterial Decorated Polymer Composites for Epidermal Biopotential Sensing Application

In the current era, the importance of graphene in electronic sensor fabrication is constantly increasing. The paper provides an easier and more affordable way to make graphene-based flexible conductive and biocompatible epidermal electrodes for wearable continuous health monitoring applications. A polymer/graphene-based nanomaterial composite consisting of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanoparticles as conductive fillers in Ethylene Copolymer was being studied. To optimize the electrical and mechanical properties of electrodes, a novel method was developed for fabrication. The physicochemical properties, mechanical properties, electrical properties, and biocompatibility of developed sensing electrode sheets were studied. The specific fabrication technique did not require costly equipment and a clean room environment and is expected to be less expensive. Developed samples fulfill the requirements of future epidermal patches intended for continuous health monitoring.
