To Study the Impact of Plantar Fasciitis on the Quality of Life of Primary School Teachers According to Foot Function Index
Abstract Introduction: Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain and affects both sedentary and athletic people. It constitutes about 15% of the cases of foot pain encountered by healthcare providers. Materials and Methods: It was a school-based descriptive observational study and conducted in Gorakhpur district. The study participants were primary school teachers. The final sample size was 55. The objective of this study was to assess the quality of life of primary school teachers according to Foot Function Index (FII). Results: According to sex, there were 20 males (34%) and 39 females (66%). Participants were also distributed on the basis of whether they were teaching in a government school or in a private school. The association of the mean FFI score between males and females was statistically significant ( P = 0.004), and females (mean FFI score = 53.67) had a higher score than males (mean FFI score = 33.75). Conclusion: As females showed a higher mean FFI score, they can be screened early clinically for heel pain. Thus, early prevention and diagnosis can positively alter the course of disease and help in the improvement of quality of life. With the help of the FFI scale, we can easily assess plantar fasciitis in OPD or community settings.
