A Report of Archaeological Investigations at Idoha Community in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State, Nigeria
Abstract Archaeological investigation in eastern Nigeria has focused on popular sites such as Igbo-Ukwu, Uturu Ugwuele, and Lejja among others, leaving less well-known and smaller sites unresearched. The research presented here is aimed at examining the activities of the early inhabitants of Idoha through ethnographic survey, archaeological reconnaissance and excavation of two sites, namely the defunct Efuru deity site and the Odo-Ezike slag dump site. Findings show that Idoha has a rich archaeological record that suggests long-term occupation in this area.
