The Influence of Income and Self-Control on Economic Behavior (A Study of Single Parents in Kampung Manggis Subdistrict, Padang Panjang City)

This study aims to analyze the influence of income and self-control on the economic behavior of single mothers. The main focus is on understanding how economic and psychological factors shape individual economic behavior, particularly when making rational financial decisions. The research employs a causal design with a quantitative approach. The sample consists of 190 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that both income and self-control have a significant influence on economic behavior. Income positively affects individuals' ability to make rational economic decisions, while self-control plays an important role in restraining unnecessary consumer impulses. Increasing income and strengthening self-control factors can be effective strategies in shaping healthy economic behavior. This study provides important implications for designing economic empowerment programs based on strengthening self-control and financial literacy, especially for vulnerable groups such as single mothers in urban areas.
