A Comparative Pharmaceutico-Clinical Study Of Navaka Guggulu Made By Two Different Shodhana Media On Medoroga (W.S.R. To Obesity)
Obesity (Medoroga) is emerging as one of the most common lifestyle disorders worldwide, including in India, due to rapid urbanization, sedentary lifestyles, and calorie-dense diets. Ayurveda offers a holistic approach for managing obesity using herbal formulations, among which Navaka Guggulu is prominent. This study compares the pharmaceutico-clinical efficacy of Navaka Guggulu prepared using two different Shodhana media—Gomutra (cow urine) and Triphala Kashaya—in the management of Medoroga. The study includes both analytical and clinical evaluations, offering evidence on how purification mediums affect the final efficacy of the Ayurvedic formulation. Results reveal that Gomutra-shodhit Navaka Guggulu offers better therapeutic outcomes, particularly in reducing BMI, lipid profiles, and subjective symptoms of obesity. This paper provides a scientific rationale for the selection of Shodhana media and its critical role in enhancing therapeutic efficacy.
