Studi Kontribusi Fear of Missing Out terhadap Cyberloafing ASN Kabupaten Cianjur

Abstract. Cyberloafing, or the use of the internet for personal matters during working hours, is increasingly common among civil servants. One psychological factor influencing this behavior is the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), which refers to the fear of being left out of others' social activities. This study aims to examine the contribution of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) to cyberloafing behavior among civil servants in Cianjur Regency. The method employed is quantitative with a cross-sectional design involving 177 respondents using convenience sampling techniques. Data was collected using the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) scale from the study (Przybylski et al., 2013) and cyberloafing (Blanchard & Henle, 2008), and then analyzed using simple linear regression. The results of the study indicate that Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) has a significant effect on cyberloafing (p < 0.01) with a regression coefficient of 1.029 and an R² value of 61.4%. This suggests the presence of social pressure to remain connected, which diverts the attention of civil servants from their primary tasks. This research concludes that FoMO positively contributes to cyberloafing.
