Skrining Fitokimia Senyawa Metabolit Sekunder Lidah Buaya (Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f.)

Abstract. Aloe vera (Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f.) is a medicinal plant that has long been utilized in various traditional treatments and health products due to its believed content of bioactive compounds. Its secondary metabolites play an important role in providing pharmacological effects such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities. This study aims to determine the presence of secondary metabolite compounds in Aloe vera extract through phytochemical screening tests. The extract was qualitatively tested for six groups of compounds: alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, steroids & triterpenoids, and anthraquinones. Each test was carried out using specific reagents to detect the presence of compounds in each group. The screening results showed that Aloe vera extract tested positive for alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and anthraquinones, while tannins and steroids & triterpenoids were not detected. The presence of these compounds supports the potential use of Aloe vera as a natural raw material for the development of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
