Evaluation of Size and Shape of Cell Spheroids Formed by Using Vibration-Induced Flow Toward High-Throughput and High Reproducible Spheroid Formation

Recently, cell spheroids, an in vitro 3D cell models are attracting large attention. Previously, a cell spheroid formation method based on vibration-induced flow (VIF) was proposed to achieve high throughput and high reproducibility. This method achieved spheroid formation of 100 or more at a time by patterning a micropillar array on a chip and applying circular vibration to induce vortex flow. In this study, the size and shape of spheroids formed by VIF were evaluated under different vibration conditions in order to improve the reproducibility of spheroid formation. From the results, we succeeded in suppressing the variation of spheroid shape by adjusting the amplitude of vibration.
