Broadband and Fabrication-Tolerant Mode-Division Multiplexing on Silicon Nitride Foundry Platform
A dual-mode-division (de)multiplexer is designed and demonstrated, for the first time, on a silicon nitride foundry platform. The device shows a low excess loss of at most 1.5 dB and low crosstalk of at most -31.0 dB over a 150-nm optical bandwidth, and maintains good performance with <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$<2.2 \text{dB}$</tex> loss and < -22.6 dB crosstalk for an 80-nm width variation.
