Non-Invasive Detection of VEGF Secretion from Small MSC Clusters Using VEGF-SSSA Integrated Into the Cellstudio Platform
This work introduces the first functionalization of the CellStudio platform with a novel self-reporting Structure Switching Signaling Aptamer (SSSA) for real-time detection of VEGF secretion. Unlike traditional methods such as ELISA, this approach enables single-step, non-invasive, real-time quantification of VEGF from live mesenchymal stem cell clusters over 24 hours using standard fluorescence microscopy. It eliminates the need for cell fixation or additional reagents, offering high spatial resolution for localized monitoring of secretion events. This system advances the study of cellular communication and disease progression by enabling continuous, high-resolution analysis of live cell secretions.
