A Standardized Reusable Multiorgan-on-a-Chip with Oral and Brain Models Linked by Vascular Flow

Multiorgan-on-a-chip (multi-OoC) has been developed to simulate human physiology and systemic diseases, which shows great potential for applications in the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields. This paper demonstrates a standardized reusable multi-unit OoC with flexible assembly, low cost, and simple operation. Containing up to 16 units, it enables independent culturing of each organ and allows for crosstalk through the bottom blood flow channel. It has good biocompatibility and reproduces the specific structure and function of periodontal barrier and blood-brain barrier, which is helpful for the research related to the degenerative diseases caused by periodontitis through blood circulation and nerve inflammation.
