Effect of Propagation Distance on MPLC Mode Conversion Performance

In this study, we numerically investigated the influence of propagation distance on MPLC performance. Shorter distances result in increased insertion and mode-dependent losses, and employing a diffractive neural network design significantly improves short-distance performance.
