Comparison of Crosstalk Measurement Methods for Weakly-Coupled Multicore Fibers

The effectiveness of four crosstalk measurement methods was compared using 4-core multicore fibers. These methods resulted in a consistent <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\pm 1.0 \text{dB}$</tex> at 1550 nm and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\pm 1.5 \text{dB}$</tex> at 1625 nm.

Abstract

The effectiveness of four crosstalk measurement methods was compared using 4-core multicore fibers. These methods resulted in a consistent <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\pm 1.0 \text{dB}$</tex> at 1550 nm and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\pm 1.5 \text{dB}$</tex> at 1625 nm.
